So since I really can't be counted on to be inspired every single day by something awesome (although that'd be awesome if I could... is there a class for that?), I decided I'd make a schedule/set of themes for me to post about every day. I wouldn't follow it to the letter, but if I've had a less than exciting day, I'll use it to come up with ideas. Here's a rough sketch.
Sunday: Word of the Week - in which I pick a word from the dictionary, post it's various meanings, maybe use it in a short sentence and muse on how it applies to my life.
Monday: Media Mondays - in which I introduce music, books, magazine/newspaper articles, photos, etc., that I enjoy and talk about why I enjoy it. Alternatively, I could talk about my own media misadventures, as I'm sure to be having them.
Tuesday: Neat Stuff - in which I post something awesome I found around town/on the web for you all to marvel at.
Wednesday: Writing Wednesday - in which I either post something I've written, whether I wrote it last semester, last week, or right there "live." I've already talked about this in the previous post, and I think it's kinda helping me keep my writing groove going. Yay! Inspiration!
Thursday: Therapy Thursday - in which I post thoughts/rants/praises about life in general. It'll probably be one of my more random categories.
Friday: Food Adventures - I love food. Most of the time, I also love making it. I've got this plan to try out more of the recipes in my "Star Wars Cookbook," which I featured in one of my previous posts, "A Special Sort of Brownies," so I figure I'd share those too! I think I'll start this tomorrow, as I'm actually planning on trying out the "Galaxy Grilled Cheese" recipe from the Wookiee Cookies book tonight. :) Also, since I'm headed over to London in the fall, I'll probably be eating slightly differently, so I'll post my thoughts on the London food scene as well.
Saturday: Picture Time - Just a picture, which I have taken with my own camera (so no Googling, or that's cheating), to express how I'm feeling.
Like I said, I won't follow this to the letter. I'll probably skip a day every once in a while, and I'll definitely be posting about other things as well. This was just a way of sorts for me to organize my thinking and my blogging strategy. I'm recently finding that I really don't like "schedules," per se, but I rather prefer "lists." I really don't like being confined, where I'm doing this activity from this time to that time, and then that activity from this time to that time and so forth. What if I'm having a really awesome time doing one thing and I don't want to stop and go on to the next quite yet? However, without any sort of structure, I find myself playing Sims 2 from like, 8 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon. Then I look around, realize I'm really hungry and wonder where the heck my day went. (I'm a bit slow.) This is why I'm really starting to like lists. They don't confine me as much as schedules do, but they give me enough structure so I know what I need to get done.
What I've actually found really useful is an app on my iPod, which cost me, I dunno, 99 cents in the App Store, called "EpicWin." (They have a blog here on blogspot! Granted, it hasn't been updated in six months so... yeah, but here's a link anyway. EpicWin App Blog) What it does is basically turn your life into a bit of a video game by turning all your tasks, such as "Do the dishes," "Turn in project," or "Defeat evil warlord," into battles, which you can "win" once you finish them and from which you can gain XP (that's experience points, for those of you who don't know), loot, and gold (not sure what you do with the gold though...). You can choose from different characters, such as a dwarf, a warrior, a girl warrior, a zombie skeleton king, and a tree, and level them up with your XP. Right now I'm a Level 8 Girl warrior: Mistress of Task Submission. This app really helps me keep things organized, as I like to put the in the order in which I'm going to do them. Yay! Organization!
So, in a way, I've already started this whole 'schedule' thing in talking about how I don't like 'schedules.' How ironic is that? Anyways, I've got to get those Galaxy Grilled Cheese Sandwiches going soon, so until next time!
